Art at Rongo and in Karamea
Rongo was created as a business arm of the LivinginPeace project which involves creating a sustainable artist's community in Karamea, and art is a major part of Rongo itself. There are numerous artworks on display of many different mediums, some of which are shown here, and many murals, drawings and wall paintings throughout the premises.
There is also a gallery owned by the Backpackers at the other end of the village in Market Cross, which displays mainly the work of photographer Gerar Toye who runs the gallery during the summer months.
